Copiapoa solaris v. El Cobre (7cm x 10cm)
The photo shows several specimens of Copiapoa solaris v. El Cobre (7 cm x 10 cm) in cactus substrate. The plants are shipped only in perfect condition and without substrate. They originate from EU seed cultivation and are 100% true to type.
Copiapoa solaris v. El Cobre (Chile) is a locally specific form of Copiapoa solaris, native to the arid coastal desert around El Cobre in northern Chile. This population is particularly valued for its striking appearance and compact, sculptural growth form.
The plant typically forms small, spherical to slightly columnar shoots with a grey-green to bluish-grey epidermis. The surface is divided into pronounced ribs, each with areoles bearing short, stiff spines. Over time, mature plants can form small clumps, creating a structured, architectural appearance.
During its flowering period, Copiapoa solaris v. El Cobre develops bright yellow flowers at the apex, creating a striking contrast to its subdued body colors. Adaptable to extreme aridity, intense sunlight, and nutrient-poor, rocky soils, this population grows slowly but displays remarkable resilience. Its compact size, precise provenance, and dramatic form make it a highly prized specimen for collectors of rare Chilean desert cacti.
