Copiapoa Marginata (5 cm)

The photo shows several specimens of Copiapoa marginata (5 cm) in cactus substrate. The plants are shipped only in perfect condition and without substrate. They originate from EU seed cultivation and are 100% true to type.

Copiapoa marginata (Chile) is a rare and distinctive species of Copiapoa, native to the arid coastal deserts of northern Chile. It is particularly valued for its columnar growth habit, striking rib structure, and adaptability to extreme desert conditions.

The plant typically develops elongated, columnar stems with a grey-green to bluish-grey epidermis. The body is segmented into pronounced ribs, each with small areoles bearing short to moderately long spines. Mature plants often remain solitary, but in some populations they may slowly form small groups, creating a sculptural, architectural appearance.

During its flowering period, Copiapoa marginata produces bright yellow, funnel-shaped flowers at the apex, providing a striking contrast to its subdued body color. Highly adapted to extreme aridity, intense sunlight, and nutrient-poor, rocky soils, this species grows slowly but exhibits remarkable resilience. Its tall, columnar form, distinctive rib structure, and classic Copiapoa characteristics make it a highly sought-after specimen for collectors of Chilean desert cacti.
