Copiapoa haseltoniana v. km 95 (Chile) is a rare, site-specific form of Copiapoa haseltoniana, native to the arid coastal desert near kilometer marker 95 on the northern coast of Chile. This population is valued for its distinctive morphology, compact growth, and adaptation to extreme desert conditions.
The plant typically develops small to medium-sized, spherical to short-columnar shoots with a grey-green to bluish-grey epidermis. The body is divided into pronounced ribs, whose small areoles bear short, strong spines. Mature plants can remain solitary or gradually form small, dense groups, creating a sculptural, structured appearance.
During the flowering period, bright yellow flowers appear at the apex, providing a striking contrast to the muted tones of the body. Highly adapted to extreme aridity, rocky soils, and intense coastal sun, this population grows slowly but exhibits remarkable resilience, making it a prized collector's item for enthusiasts of Chilean desert cacti.
