 Lophophora decipiens (Mexico) is a rare and locally restricted species of Lophophora native to the semi-arid regions of northern Mexico. This species is known for its distinctive, flat, and knob-like growth form, as well as its slender, compact appearance.


 This form typically develops small, flattened, spherical to button-like shoots with a velvety epidermis in pale green to grey-green tones. The surface is divided into soft, rounded tubercles, each bearing small tufts of fine white wool, symmetrically distributed across the crown. Mature plants usually remain solitary, but can slowly form small groups under optimal conditions.


 During the flowering period, small, delicate pink to light magenta flowers emerge from the central, woolly areoles, creating a lovely contrast to the muted stem colors. Lophophora decipiens is adapted to calcareous, well-drained soils and minimal rainfall. It exhibits slow growth, high drought tolerance, and excellent adaptability to its natural environment. Its compact growth habit, elegant appearance, and precise adaptations to extreme habitats make it a particularly prized specimen for collectors of rare Lophophora.
