Lophophora williamsii v. Pluricostata SB 854 (Starr County, Texas, USA) is a rare, location-specific form of Lophophora. williamsii, native to the semi-arid region of Starr County, Texas. Field number SB 854 designates a documented population prized for its exceptional morphology and distinctive rib structure.

This form develops small, flat to slightly convex, button-like bodies with a smooth, blue-green to gray-green epidermis. The surface is divided into several distinct tubercles, forming an unusually high number of ribs – hence the name pluricostata ("many-ribbed"). Each areole bears a small tuft of white wool, distributed symmetrically across the crown. Mature plants usually remain solitary but can form small groups under optimal conditions.

During the flowering period, delicate flowers in shades of light pink to pale magenta emerge from the central, woolly areoles, providing a subtle contrast to the blue-green body. Adapted to calcareous, well-drained soils and minimal rainfall, this population exhibits slow growth, exceptional resilience, and outstanding adaptation to its native habitats. Its precise provenance, unique rib count, and elegant form make it a highly sought-after specimen for collectors of rare, site-specific Lophophora. williamsii.

Lophophora SB 854 Williamsii v. Pluricostata Starr Co., Texas. Keinerlei Beanstandungen. Mehr geht nicht.
